Election Information 2011 Board of Trustees Candidate List 2011 Board of Trustees Candidate Information Notice of Drawing for Place on Ballot Order of Election-Early Voting Sites May 14 Polling Sites Fort Bend County Election Information Election Calendar Tuesday (May 10th) the level three American Sign Language students will be experiencing “Deaf Day”. From the time the students arrive to school on Tuesday morning until the end of the day at 2:30, they will be “deaf”. They have been instructed to wear earplugs, ignore all noise around them, and above all NOT TALK.
As much as possible on that day, the ASL students will make other arrangements to copy verbal notes and depend on their classmates to help them understand their assignments, etc. If there are ASL I and II students in their classes they will be able to communicate using sign language if allowed it. There may be special circumstances where this will not be possible. The students have been told to follow the teacher's instructions in each class, and not use "deaf day" as an excuse to ignore or argue with any staff member. They have been instructed that if they must communicate with a teacher in a class, that does NOT give them permission to socialize with their friends. All of the students who are participating should be wearing a shirt that is a neon color that says “Deaf Day 2011”. They are expected to be “deaf” during the entire school day including lunch and between classes. They also have a form for their teachers to fill out. Teachers will indicate if the student was wearing their earplugs and any other comments they may have. Staff members are also to alert Ms. Pena if any of these students are seen talking in the halls or at lunch. The students understand that negative reports will affect their grade on this project. The City of Houston Department of Public Works and Engineering, strives to give students interested in engineering, public service, science, and/or mathematics, an insight into a potential career with the City of Houston.
