Just a sophomore in his first varsity season, Dulles High School pitcher Nick Hernandez doesn't know a whole lot about big game situations. That didn't stop him from contributing a brilliant performance in perhaps the most significant game for the Vikings this year.
Hernandez drove in two runs in the first inning with Dulles' only hit and spun a gorgeous complete game from the mound in the Vikings' 3-2 victory over Elkins in the regular season finale. The triumph gave Dulles a berth in the postseason. The Vikings will be the No. 2 seed. Elkins is eliminated. The Knights would have stayed alive for a three-team tiebreaker by winning on Friday.
