Here is a schedule for those teams as the postseason continues on Friday. @FtBendSports By COREY ROEPKEN PEARLAND - Sam Gallegos took his spot over the ball and waited nervously for the referee's whistle. With two years of playoff angst riding on his feet, the Elkins High School junior didn't plan to let his team down. Gallegos scored in Elkins' final shootout attempt to give the Knights a shootout victory over Pearland Tuesday night in the Region III-5A playoff opener at The Rig. Pearland had scored with 18 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime tied at 1-1. Nobody scored in either of two extra 10-minute periods to force a shootout.
