FORT BEND ISD - Fort Bend ISD’s Volunteers and Partnerships Department hosted its annual VIPS Salute on December 7, 2010 to honor the district’s Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) for their outstanding efforts in supporting FBISD students and schools throughout the year. FBISD volunteers devoted more than 280,000 recorded volunteer hours at district campuses last school year to support student learning by serving as tutors, competition judges, speakers, translators and mentors. They also contributed to educational programs with in-kind donations and direct financial support. Superintendent Dr. Timothy Jenney commended FBISD’s volunteers, saying, “thanks to each and every one of you for all you do to support our students and for the quality of service you provide. We could not do it without you.” Pamela Shaw, Volunteers/Partnerships Coordinator, also applauded volunteers for a job well done and introduced guests. Among them were: FBISD Board of Trustees Sonal Bhuchar, Laurie Caldwell, and Jim Rice; Dr. Marc Smith, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools; and Mary Ann Simpson, Chief Communications Officer. Guests enjoyed a continental breakfast, holiday music performed by the Elkins High School “Knight Beats” Choir, and door prizes. Monday, Dec. 6 from 5 to 10 in the Auditorium
