Juniors and Seniors – You are invited to attend the 14th Annual High School Leadership Conference at Texas A&M University on November 12th-14th. HSLC is an excellent opportunity for young leaders to engage in inspirational leadership workshops, network with Texas A&M students, and learn from the personal experiences of the top leaders surrounding Texas A&M university. Registration will open on September 24 and will close October 15th. There is an $85 conference fee to cover expenses. Spaces are limited and usually go fast so register early. Attention Juniors. If you are interested in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, consider applying for the High School Aerospace Scholars Program. You will be responsible for on-line lessons throughout the school year and will attend a weeklong workshop at the Johnson Space Center next summer. This is a great opportunity to further develop your skills in math and science, meet professionals from NASA and interact with students from around the state. If you have been involved in an acitivity like this within the last 12 months, you are eligible to apply for the Princeton Prize in Race Relations. Juniors & Seniors interested in Emory University should sign-up at the counseling office to attend the Emory University College Visit at 8:30 . Deadline to sign-up is Friday, September 24, 2010. Please take advantage of any on-campus college visit to get detailed information in a small setting about that college. On September 29, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Progressive High School, FBISD will host a College Informational workshop for parents and students. This event will include financial aid experts, college admission coordinators, application process & tips, college life advisors & college selection tips to assist you in making the transition to college smooth & easy. Additional information & maps to assist you can be obtained from Elkins counseling office. This is a great opportunity to gather information & get answers about college & post-secondary education before Fort Bend's College Night in October.
