Twenty-one students from the EHS DECA program have advanced to state competition after the district competition held January 17th at The Stafford Centre. DECA is a Career and Technical Education student organization whose mission is to “prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.”

“I am so excited that our CTE students see the value in going above and beyond our traditional curriculum and choosing to compete against other DECA students,” said Ms. Palmer. “These students will have a definite advantage with communication and presentation skills when they enter the workforce.”
All 21 students have advanced to state competition scheduled for February 20-22 in Dallas. Over 5,000 high school students will compete for a place on the Texas DECA Team and a trip to the International Career Development Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia.
