Students looking to earn credit in the Fort Bend ISD Evening School Program: Registration is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11th, Wednesday, September 12th, and Thursday, September 13th at Progressive High School from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. If you are interested in participating, visit with your counselor as soon as possible to complete the necessary paperwork. There is NO late registration for Evening School so visit your counselor as soon as possible and mark the registration dates on your calendar. PURPOSE The FBISD Evening School Program has been in existence for over fourteen years. The program is offered each semester to assist in-district and out-of-district students who need to retake a core class or take a core class for original credit. Registration Dates, Times, and Place · Registration is at Progressive High School on Tuesday, January 25, Wednesday, January 26, and Thursday, January 27 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. · Registration is 3 days only! There is NO late registration! · The student’s parent or legal guardian should accompany the student to registration. Required Registration Materials Necessary to Register for Evening School
Spring Semester, 2010-11 Evening School registration forms may be obtained through your school’s counselor who will complete, sign, and initial for each course to be taken. Registration materials will be available prior to registration at FBISD high school campuses in the counselor’s office. NOTE: Students that do not have the required registration materials completed fully will not be allowed to register. Optional Registration Materials
Reduced tuition is available for students on free and reduced meals. The Evening School Reduced Tuition Fee Form must be completed and signed by the counselor. Reduced tuition is available only for FBISD students taking courses for remedial credit only! Students taking a course for original credit or repeat credit due to attendance are not eligible for reduced tuition. Fees and Payments at Registration Tuition is $275 per original credit course for FBISD students Tuition is $300 per original credit course for out-of-district students Tuition is $225.00 per remedial credit course for FBISD students Tuition is $250 per remedial credit course for out-of-district students Methods of Payment Payment for tuition may be made in cash, debit card, or credit card. There is a $5 fee for the use of debit and credit cards. Full payment is due at the time of registration. Fort Bend ISD students currently receiving benefits provided by the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program during the 2010-11 school year can receive a Reduced Tuition fee and pay $85 per course. REDUCED TUITION FEE FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE REGISTRATION PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED; THEY MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. Reduced Tuition may only be used for courses taken for remedial credit. Reduced Tuition is not available for courses taken for original credit. Original Credit Classes-(counselor’s permission required) are for students who are taking a course for the first time or students who are repeating a course that was failed due to excessive absences and denied credit. The regular Fort Bend ISD curriculum will be followed. All courses last two and a half (2 ½) hours each class throughout the semester. Reduced tuition fees do not apply to these courses. Remedial Credit Classes-(counselor’s permission required) are for students who are repeating a course. The regular Fort Bend ISD curriculum will be followed. All courses last two and a half (2 ½) hours each class throughout the semester. No student will be allowed to take the second semester of a course without having previously passed the first semester of the course. Class Assignments-Classes are assigned based on enrollment, need, and the availability of certified teachers. Courses that are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or lack of qualified teachers will result in a full refund or the opportunity for the student to select another available course. Refund Policy-Students who are withdrawn from Evening School for disciplinary reasons or for excessive tardiness/absences, will not receive any refund for tuition fees paid by or on behalf of the student. Refunds will not be given once classes begin on the first day of the class. Grades-Progress reports will be given to students and are due back the following class period with a parent’s signature. A credit report will be mailed to the student’s home and the home campus registrar and counselors will be notified of the student’s grade at the conclusion of Evening School. Transportation-FBISD does not provide transportation to Evening School. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student and parent to provide transportation to and from classes. Spring Semester Class Schedule · Monday/Wednesday classes begin Monday, January 31 · Tuesday/Thursday classes begin Tuesday, February 1 · Classes begin at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. · President’s Day Holiday ( No School), February 21 · Spring Break Holidays (No School), March 14 through March 18 · Thursday, April 21 (No Evening School Classes) · Evening School Final Exams are Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24. · There are no exemptions from Evening School final exams. All students must take their final exams to receive credit for the course. Attendance Policy (Read the Evening School Information and Guidelines for complete details) Efficient use of class time is essential to the student’s success. Therefore, students will be withdrawn without receiving credit for the course if they have more than three (3) absences during the semester regardless of whether they are excused or unexcused. Three tardies in a class will be counted as one (1) absence for that class. A student will be counted absent from class if they miss 30 minutes of the class. Refunds will not be given to students who are withdrawn because of attendance reasons. Discipline All students will follow the FBISD Student Code of Conduct. Students refusing to adhere to the code of conduct who receive a second (2) discipline referral will be withdrawn from evening school without receiving a grade for the session regardless of the date within the session. In addition, physical and/or verbal confrontations on campus or behavior which is deemed to cause a major disruption of the educational environment will result in the student being immediately withdrawn from Evening School, without receipt of a grade/credit for the session regardless of the date within the session on which the incident occurs. Refunds will not be given to student’s who are withdrawn for discipline reasons. Course Offerings (See the Evening School Registration Form for details) Evening School is offered at Progressive High School for in-district and out-of-district students needing to retake a class or take a class for original credit. Note that the creation of a class is contingent on having enough students enrolled.
