Librarians in our nation’s 123,000 libraries make a difference in the lives of millions of people everyday. Now is your chance to shine the spotlight on our librarian, Jana Kelley, at Elkins High School library!
Up to 10 librarians will receive $5,000 and will be honored at a reception in New York hosted by The New York Times.
Nominations must be received by September 20, 2010. Winners will be notified by November 2010. In addition to the $5,000 award, winners will receive a plaque and a travel stipend to attend a ceremony and reception held in New York in December 2010. The winners’ libraries will also receive a plaque. Winners will be promoted at www.ilovelibraries.org/ilovemylibrarian .
The Carnegie/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award encourages library users to recognize the accomplishments of exceptional librarians. The awards program will demonstrate how librarians are improving the lives of the people in their communities. The award is administered by the American Library Association with support from the Carnegie Corporation and The New York Times.
