Graduates of high schools in the Wharton County Junior College service area who rank in the top five (5) percent of their graduating class qualify for The Wharton County Junior College Board of Trustees High Honor Scholarship. These tuition and fee scholarships are awarded to full-time freshman students. Students awarded more than one Wharton county Junior College institutional scholarship will not receive funds in excess of tuition and fees. Students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average to retain the scholarship for the second semester.

Student Support Services and the Safe and Drug Free Schools Department, in partnership with the Fort Bend Medical Society Alliance, invite you to the free WATCH Your Wellness Health and Fitness Fair. The Fair is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Sugar Land Town Square. This event kicks off WATCH Week in the schools, which will be held the week of March 4-8. WATCH stands for the five (5) risk factors of heart disease and stroke: Weight, Activity, Tobacco, Cholesterol and High blood pressure. The fair attracts FBISD students, families and staff, as well as the community. Some of the activities include: Radio Disney, Access Family Health for immunizations, FBISD school groups to entertain, free screenings for glucose, bone density and blood pressure, health information, a bike helmet giveaway, and much more.
Congrats to Ruhika Roy for being recognized to represent Elkins High School at the 54th Anniversary Science and Engineering Fair of Houston in March with her project “Copper in Trouble: Vibration and HOPG Characterization.”
•Good Job to the Unarmed Drill Team, commanded by Cadet Senior Master Sergeant Natalie Farrar, and the Academic Team for their performance. The female Color Guard team commanded by Cadet Lt. Colonel Erra Reid, placed 2nd in the Color Guard competition. The armed Drill Team, commanded by Cadet 2nd Lt. Aman Gupte performed incredibly and took home a first place trophy in Armed Regulation. Please be advised of the Monday. March 4th testing schedule for all grades detailed below and on the attached file. 11th graders will complete the English Language Arts (ELA) TAKS test. Seniors who have passed all Exit TAKS tests will report to the auditorium at 12:00 P.M. for dismissal to 6th period classes, and MUST eat lunch prior to coming to campus. 9th & 10th graders will follow a normal class and lunch schedule; some classrooms may be relocated due to rooms being used for testing purposes. Please read the following information below regarding the testing schedule, reminders, and tutorials. Student Rosters with 11th grade testing locations will be posted in the cafeteria. 11th grade students will eat in the testing room; we are recommending that ALL 11th grade students bring a sack lunch, snacks and water bottle! 11th grade students are expected to bring a fiction book to read (NO Kindle’s or E-Readers) at the conclusion of their testing. (Textbooks, non-fiction books or homework will not be permitted.) Music devices, cell phones, data storage devices, video games, or cameras are NOT permitted in the testing rooms. Students in violation will receive ‘no credit’ on their TAKS exam and are subject to disciplinary action. 500 selected students from five FBISD high schools (Elkins, Hightower, Marshall, Ridge Point and Willowridge) will participate in a FBISD Career Fair at Missouri City Community Center, 1522 Texas Parkway on Friday, April 5th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The students will prepare for the event in business and marketing classes by creating winning resumes, practicing interview skills, learning how to dress professionally, and reviewing details needed to complete job applications. Students will be selected to participate in the FBISD Career Fair based on their job search skills as well as their academic, attendance, and behavior records. Please bring a sack lunch and drink that day. Remember to leave all telecommunication devices at home, in locker or automobile so that the test is not voided.
