FORT BEND ISD - Fort Bend ISD congratulates the 23 graduates of the 2011 Fort Bend ISD LEAD Principals’ Academy. The graduates represented 22 FBISD campuses, and included three associate principals and 20 assistant principals, who are aspiring to become campus principals.
The LEAD (Leadership, Excellence, Accountability and Development) Principals’ Academy prepares eligible candidates for successful future FBISD leadership positions by having them complete eight challenging, monthly sessions that are relevant to enhancing leadership skills necessary to be an effective leader. Academy participants take part in sessions dealing with topics such as effective communication, realities of school finance, instructional leadership, and human resources. They are also required to complete a ROPES course to help promote team building, as well as StrengthFinders sessions to help identify their leadership strengths and discover their emotional intelligence for personal growth and development.

This year’s cohort was under the leadership of Dr. Carlson. During the graduation ceremony, she commended the graduates on all of their hard work and encouraged them to “be the example of what you want to see in others.” The graduates in turn thanked Carlson by presenting her with a token of their appreciation.
Dr. Jenney welcomed honorees and guests to the ceremony, explaining the importance and need for such an academy. He also congratulated the graduates and said, “I look forward to seeing you all blossom in your future leadership roles with the District.”
