Staff Reports Micayla Sorosiak made a name for herself last season as District 23-5A's Newcomer of the Year. The Kempner High School sophomore's second season is proving to be better than her first. Sorosiak drove in all five runs, including a grand slam, as Kempner defeated Elkins, 5-3, Friday night in a match-up of first-place teams. Kempner coach Charity Rychlik, who played for Kempner in the late 1990s and has coached there since 2003, said she cannot remember another time that the Lady Cougars beat the 10-time reigning district champs....READ MORE Fort Bend Sun

Staff Reports The Travis Lady Tigers trailed by three runs after the first three batters, but one of softball's rarest occurences gave them just the spark they needed get another signature victory. With two outs and the bases loaded in the second inning Melissa Billingsley hit an inside-the-park home run to give Travis the lead for good in a 7-4 victory over visiting Clements Tuesday night.
