The Elkins Speech and Debate Team cordially invites you to attend our annual Night of Literary Interpretation, also known as Interp Night in the Elkins Auditorium on Thursday, March 27th, at 6pm. Students on the team will be performing their competition pieces. The pieces are funny, entertaining, sometimes touching, and extremely well-done. In addition, we will hold a silent auction of wonderful gift items just perfect for upcoming holidays or Mother’s Day. Come! Be entertained! Do your shopping!
Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased from any member of the team, Ms. Bonnette in Room 131, or Mrs. Deslaurier in Room 509. If you are interested in competing for the National Forensic League’s District Qualifying Tournament for a chance to compete at nationals this summer, you MUST attend a meeting in Ms. Bonnette’s room, #131. The meeting will be after school on Tuesday, March 18, from 2:45pm until 3:15pm. Any team member who does not go to the meeting will not be considered for a spot at the district competition. Please see Ms. Bonnette or Mrs. Deslaurier if you have questions or concerns.

Ms. Bonnette, Ms. Saunders, and Mrs. Ermenc would like to extend a congratulations to all members of the Elkins’ Speech and Debate team for a wonderful and successful competitive year! In particular, we would like to recognize some students who earned particular honors this past weekend at the National Qualifying Tournament. Alison Baran is the 2nd alternate for Humorous Interpretation; Samantha Phu and Saket Jha are alternates for Public Forum Debate; and, Milan Doshi is 1st alternate for Lincoln Douglas Debate. •Finally, Ruhika Roy qualified for nationals in Student Congress. •Congratulations Ruhika, our alternates, and the entire team for a great year!!

By earning this honor, Milan is in the top half of one percent of League members. This accomplishment reflects sustained excellence in classroom activities, competition rounds, and service projects in the speech and debate honor society.
Ms. Bonnette would like to congratulate Milan D. for qualifying for Nationals in Lincoln Douglas Debate this past weekend. He will be representing Elkins and the state of Texas. We would like to wish him the best of luck this summer at Nationals!
