Youth in Philanthropy, sponsored by the George Foundation and the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, held their second county-wide food drive on Saturday, Nov. 13
According to the press release, students from 12 area high schools collected over eight pallets of food to donate to East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, Mamie George Community Center, Katy Christian Ministries, Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands and Second Mile Mission Center.
The students used the canned goods collected to compete in a canned food sculpting competition. Elkins High School won $750 for constructing the winning sculpture. The runners-up were Reedville High School, which won $500, and Calvary Episcopal College Prep School, which won $250. Money for the awards was donated by Planned Community Developers....READ MORE
