The thought of facing their all-time toughest opponent in a game they had to have the last time they expect to play at their home field did not sit well with Brittany and Courtney Chilivetis.
By the time the lights turned out at Austin High School's softball field Friday night the twin sisters still couldn't believe their greatest night had been saved for last.
Thanks to some ugly Elkins defense and two wild pitches in the first inning Austin scored all the runs it needed in its first at-bat of a 9-4 victory over the 10-time reigning district champion Lady Knights. The victory allowed Austin to keep alive its hopes for the playoffs and simultaneously ended any realistic chance Elkins has of extending its championship streak....READ MORE
