Tiffani McKnight ripped the first fair ball into the rightfield corner and raced all around to third base. Three batters later the Elkins High School centerfielder scored the games first run.
Just like that the 10-time defending district champs were off and running. Did you expect anything else with their season on the line?
Elkins' offense erupted at just the right time Tuesday night and the Lady Knights defeated first-place Kempner, 10-4, to stay alive in the race for the playoffs. Based on remaining opponents, a loss to Kempner almost for sure would have ended the Lady Knights' hopes for the postseason.
