By Cindy Ziervogel Emmanuel Peeples is used to getting stares both on and off the stage. The eloquent and talented 17-year-old first joined and fell in love with theater in middle school. He quickly learned that being on stage was more than just an extra curricular pursuit. For Emmanuel, the stage is where he is most comfortable and validated. The stage is where he yearns to be. Emmanuel and his family moved here from England when he was in the sixth grade. He had much to contend with besides the normal trials and tribulations of being in middle school, especially having moved from another country. He was an outsider. Even now, Emmanuel gets stared at off stage. That’s because, physically, he looks different. Emmanuel has ocular albinism, a genetic condition that causes a lack of pigment, primarily of the eyes. The Elkins Theatre Department is delighted to invite you to see “The Wizard of Oz” in the Elkins Theater. We’ll be presenting this classic story on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 with a matinee on Sunday afternoon at 3:00. The box office will open 45 minutes to each performance. Come see Dorothy, Glinda, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Guard to Emerald City and the Wizard, himself.
Elkins Theatre invites you to follow the yellow brick road to the Elkins Auditorium on Feb. 3rd, 4th and 5th at 7:00 p.m. to enjoy their presentation of The Wizard of Oz.. See all of your favorite characters as the Elkins Theatre is magically transformed into the Emerald City. Please come and enjoy this fun for all ages production. Tickets are only available at the door. $7 for students and $10 for adults.
The Elkins Theatre Department is off to see the Wizard. Auditions will be in the Choir Room on Dec. 7th from 2:30 to 3:30. There is a sign-up sheet for audition times on the door to the Theatre room, room 552 on the patio. Be prepared to sing 20 to 30 seconds of a song from any musical. Elkins High School Student, Emmanuel Peeples, to Perform at Texas Thespians State Festival11/12/2010
Elkins High School junior, Emmanuel Peeples, will perform in the All-State Cast production of the American classic, Our Town, during the 2010 Texas Thespians State Festival, which will be held November 18-20 in Corpus Christi. The festival theme this year is “Breaking the 4th Wall: Theatre in Our Town.” Peeples is the only Fort Bend ISD student selected to perform with the All-State cast.
What would happen if Shakespeare and The Three Stooges put on a play together? The Elkins Theatre Department presents "The Compleat Works of Wm. Shakespeare, Abridged." This play is a clever adaptation of all of Shakespeare's plays compounded into two hours of hilarity and hijinks. Performances are Thursday - Nov. 4, Friday -Nov. 5 and Saturday - Nov. 6 at 7:00. Tickets at the door are $7.00. $5.00 for students with id.
The Thespian Society will meet after school on Thursday, October 7 in room 552. Come and learn about Elkins' new comedy club, Saturday Knight Live. Anyone with an interest in theatre or comedy is invited.
