The Elkins and Hightower boys basketball teams each won their second-round games in blowout fashion Friday night to set up a third-round showdown between themselves next week. Elkins defeated Pasadena Memorial, 79-41, in Pearland. Hightower defeated South Houston, 88-47, in Alvin. By COREY ROEPKEN Dauntae Williams continued his strong play for Division II University of Central Oklahoma by scoring half of his team's points in a 74-68 win over East Central State. The Elkins High School graduate has been Central Oklahoma's top player for the better part of two seasons. On Saturday the Bronchos needed almost all of his career-high 37 points. Williams scored 20 of his team's 22 points during a run that spanned the first and second halves.
