Six students from the Elkins High School DECA program have advanced to National competition after the State competition held in Corpus Christi February 28-March 2.
DECA is a Career and Technical Education student organization whose mission is to “prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.” It is one of the largest student organizations at EHS with 110 student members. Thirty of those students elected to compete in business and marketing events against various other high schools across the State of Texas.

DECA students are led by marketing teacher Stacy Palmer. “I am so excited that our CTE students see the value in going above and beyond our traditional curriculum and choosing to compete against other DECA students,” said Ms. Palmer. “These students will have a definite advantage with communication and presentation skills when they enter the workforce.”
