Coming off two games in which it played below the expectations of its coach, the Hightower High School girls basketball team rebounded in a big way Tuesday night.
The Lady Canes stormed to a big lead in the first quarter and coasted to an 89-59 lead over Kempner at Hopson Field House.
Hightower (26-4, 6-1) outscored the Lady Cougars 24-2 in the first eight minutes. The Lady Canes led by 33 points at the end of the third quarter.
The triumph allowed Hightower to stay in a three-way tie for first place in District 23-5A. The Lady Canes share the top spot with Elkins and Austin. Kempner (15-9, 4-3) slipped into a fifth-place tie with Clements....READ MORE
