ELITE DANCE TEAM….Tryouts for the 2012-2013 Elite Dance Team will take place next week in the girls gym. There will not be any tryouts in the Spring, so if you have thought about joining one of the premier organizations on campus next year, this is your chance! Tryout packets are available in the Dance Room or on Elkins Knightwire. Please see Mrs. Diamond or Ms. Mendiola with any questions.
Y.E.S. (Youth Expanding Service) is a program encouraging the students of Elkins H.S. to make a difference in the community through service. All students of EHS are welcome to join. Please visit the YES table in the commons during lunch on Mondays and Thursdays to join the program, turn in volunteer hours, and find new volunteer opportunities. Copies of all updated Y.E.S. forms can be found on the Elkins web page at http://campuses.fortbendisd.com/campuses/ehs/ActivitiesDocuments.cfm?ActivityIndex=10548.
All completed forms must be copied BEFORE turning in to the Y.E.S. table. The volunteer hour spreadsheet is updated every 2 weeks and is available at the Y.E.S. table. **Seniors, please come by the table and verify all volunteer hours to ensure any discrepancies are resolved before April 30** If you have any questions about the program, please contact Ms. Glover in the Counselor's office, Michelle Corley at [email protected] or Johnna Guilbeau at [email protected]. Faculty and Students:
During the holiday break, many FBISD students will go hungry, as they depend on the school for their only substantial meals daily. We are going to help feed these students and their families breakfast via the Shared Dreams program by donating new boxes of cereal and oatmeal, so please donate! There will be a collection box in the foyer and one in the cafeteria daily during the week of Nov. 28th through Dec. 2nd. The Hightower-Elkins Robotics Team just returned from a successful trip to the Texas B.E.S.T. State competition. The Kraken competed against 55 other teams from Texas & New Mexico in five different categories over the course of two days.
They ranked in the top 25% throughout most of the tournament and finished 15th among the best 56 teams in the 2-state area. The membership consists of students from both schools and is a wonderful example of working together towards a common goal!!! Santa’s Exchange…is a joint effort of the Sugar Land Exchange Club, the Sugar Land Rotary Club, and the Fort Bend Exchange Club in support of Project SMILE. The common goal of these organizations is to ensure a more joyful Christmas to more than 3,000 deserving children in Fort Bend County.
Here is how you can help: *Bring new, unwrapped toys or gifts *For children ages 1 through 12 *Place gifts in the Toys for Kids Collection Box in the Front Office between Nov. 14th and Dec. 9th. Student IDs…All students that do not have a student ID badge must see Mr. Gloster in office 341. You will need to make an appointment to go to the library to get a new ID badge.
Students DO NOT go to the library to get an ID badge. You MUST make an appointment with Mr. Gloster first. All students who have already seen Mr. Gloster and signed up will have their ID badges made and delivered to them within the next two days. |
