Ten Outstanding Fort Bend ISD students selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars Candidates
FORT BEND ISD - Ten Fort Bend ISD students have been selected by the United States Department of Education as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program. Each year, up to 141 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the Nation’s highest honors for high school students. In honoring the Presidential Scholars, the President of the United States symbolically honors all graduating high school seniors of high potential. The following outstanding Fort Bend ISD students have been selected as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program: Hersh Agrawal, Travis High School Steven Dao, Hightower High School Kevin Fu, Clements High School Rachel Hatton, Austin High School Nikita Kansra, Travis High School Sirui Lu, Clements High School Shrinidhi Rao, Travis High School Karthik Sethuraman, Clements High School Grant Yuan, Elkins High School Yuxi Zhou, Clements High School Some 3,000 candidates for the Presidential Scholars program are selected each year for the academic component of the program, based on having scored exceptionally well on the College Board SAT or the ACT assessment. To confirm their interest and assist in the selection process, candidates must submit required application materials. The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by Executive Order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our Nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 1979, the Program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the visual, creative and performing arts. 8th Annual Schlumberger Education Expedition a BP MS150 recommended ride on March 26, 2011 2011 Schlumberger Education Expedition is here!!! On Saturday, March 26th, the Fort Bend Education Foundation will host its 8th annual bike ride, The Schlumberger Education Expedition. FBEF provides you with a quality ride whether you are training for the all-important BP MS 150 or just wanting a great day with friends. Riders will take off at 7:30 am from Ken Hall Stadium which is located at Hightower High School in Missouri City and wind through quiet streets and into the countryside before looping back home. There are 3 routes to choose from ranging from 27 to 79 miles. Houston Independent School District, Cy-Fair ISD, Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Klein ISD, Conroe ISD, Galveston ISD, Alief ISD and Spring Branch ISD called off athletic events for today in anticipation of snowy and icy conditions. While most have rescheduled varsity games for Saturday, athletic directors say the plans could change again....READ MORE Due to current weather conditions, Fort Bend ISD has cancelled classes for Friday, Feb. 4. All after school activities and meetings, including Extended Day, are canceled for Friday.
