Please join Fort Bend County School Districts to learn about Texans Advocating for Meaningful Student Assessment (TAMSA) at a public meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Bend ISD Annex (3119 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, 77479). TAMSA is a statewide, grassroots organization comprised of parents and other community members who advocate for a strong accountability system for our schools and meaningful student assessments. Parents and community members are invited to attend to find out more about TAMSA and its efforts to lessen the burdens associated with state testing. For more information about TAMSA, please visit www.tamsatx.org. This meeting is being sponsored by Fort Bend ISD, Lamar CISD and Stafford MSD. On November 9, the three Fort Bend County school districts presented six priorities for the 83rd Legislative Session to “Keep Public Schools in Fort Bend County Strong,” and asked for the support and influence of the public officials during the upcoming legislative session. One of the six priorities called for the legislature to re-examine the public school accountability system in Texas to support continuous improvement in teaching and learning while lessening the excessive burdens associated with state testing. Collectively, the three school districts educate more than 98,000 students out of the five million students across our state who are provided public education. The Dec. 12th meeting provides another opportunity for parents and community member to be proactive and be informed about state testing in Texas public schools.
