Elkins competed Saturday in the District Academic UIL. Congratulations to the following students:
On Monday, March 31st and Tuesday, April 1st the freshman and sophomores respectively will be participating in the STAAR/EOC tests for English I and II. Students who have not scored Level 2 during a previous administration will also be tested during these days. If you are involved in testing please, bring a sack lunch and leave all electronic devices at home. Students with electronic devices on their person during testing will not have their tests scored. Also, be here on time on testing days!!! Please check for your Room assignments which will be posted in the commons and the front office on Thursday.
The last day of school has been changed to June 6, and it will be an early release day for all students. Seniors have a compressed exam schedule which will allow for them to attend graduation at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6th. Attached are the dual final exam schedules. Please notice that all seniors will eat during A lunch on Wednesday, June 4th after their 4th period final exam and then go to their 7th period exam. Also attached is a final exam schedule with exemption late arrival and early departure info.
The 2014 Graduation Schedule will remain the same, and you can view the 2014 Graduation Schedule here.
- Graduating seniors will take final exams on a revised schedule that will be announced on Friday, March 21. - If a student wants to attend a graduation ceremony for a sibling, their absence will be excused for the day. - If a student has a sibling involved in graduation on Friday, June 6, the student may arrange to take final exams earlier. The revised secondary exam schedules will be released by Friday, March 21. - If a student has pre-arranged travel on May 26 or June 6 and needs to be absent, they must show proof of pre-arranged travel to campus administration to receive an excused absence. - Please work with your campus administration to address other types of conflicts. On January 24 and 28, we experienced inclement weather conditions that prevented us from safely conducting school operations. Texas state law requires school districts to designate two make-up days for bad weather on its Board-approved calendar. At Monday night’s Board meeting, the Board approved an important changes to the current school calendar as follows:
- The last day of school has been changed to June 6, and it will be an early release day for all students. - Therefore, the two bad weather days will be made up on June 6 and May 26 (Memorial Day). - We will not be in school on April 18, the scheduled Good Friday holiday. Because the Texas Education Agency requires us to make up the two weather days, it is important that students be in attendance on the two make up days. We understand that some FBISD high school graduations are scheduled on Friday, June 6, and that some families have made plans for the May 26 holiday and for June 6. We will work with families to address prescheduled conflicts as follows: Fort Bend ISD is asking teachers, students and parents to participate in a Site-Level Climate Survey launching this month. Designed and administered by independent technology and communications firm K12 Insight, the survey covers topics such as academic preparation, student support, parent engagement and school operations, among others.
Parents who have provided the district with their email addresses in Skyward will receive email invitations to participate on March 21. The survey will also be accessible to all parents by clicking this link, and paper copies will be available in English and Spanish upon request. Parents who have children at multiple campuses will be provided instructions for taking the survey for each campus. Teachers and staff will receive email invitations to participate in the survey next week, while students will participate at their school sites later this spring. Feedback from the climate survey will allow district leadership to obtain critical baseline and tracking data that they can use to improve our schools. To promote widespread participation, respondents may elect to take the survey in Spanish. All answers will be anonymous and confidential. Once the survey has closed, the district will share results, along with an explanation of how it will use the data to make site-level improvements. Elkins has partnered with St. Luke’s to host an honorary replacement blood drive for Elkins student Hector Iglesias on Thursday, April 10th in the girls gym from 7:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Anyone 17 years of age and older, weighing at least 110 lbs and in general good health may be able to donate. To sign up to donate, please contact Mrs. Sander or Mrs. Reeves at 281.634.2624. Eligibility To be eligible to donate blood you must:
