Testing Reminders for Students/Parents
ü In order to meet test security requirements, parents will not be allowed to visit classrooms or drop off lunches. Please encourage your child to pay attention in class, to complete all of their assignments, and to attend after school tutorials, especially if it is a teacher recommendation. In addition, please help make sure that your child arrives each testing day on time with a sack lunch and has had sufficient rest and a good breakfast in order to be successful.
ü Remember that STAAR is a timed 4 hour test!
ü Students are expected to bring a fiction book to read (NO Kindle’s or E-Readers) at the conclusion of their testing. (Textbooks, non-fiction books or homework will not be permitted.)
ü Music devices, cell phones, data storage devices, video games, or cameras are NOT permitted. Students in violation will receive ‘no credit’ on their state assessments and are subject to disciplinary action.
ü Non-Testing students will report to regular classes. Many classes are relocated for testing, so students need to remember where their classes will meet. Signs will be posted to assist with the relocation of classes.
Important Notes
Ø Student Rosters with testing locations will be posted in the Commons and at the front office prior to testing day.
Ø Students involved in testing will need to eat a good breakfast on testing dates. NO SNACKS are provided. Students may bring bottled water to keep under their desk.
Ø Students involved in testing will eat lunch in the testing room. We are recommending that ALL students testing bring a sack lunch to school on testing days.
Fort Bend ISD Cell Phone Policy (FNCE-R) On State Testing Days
All telecommunications devices (such as cell phones, pagers, PDA’s) should be either in your locker or at the front of the testing room (turned off and out of sight). If you are found with one at any time you are in the testing room (while you are actively testing or have turned in your test and are waiting to be dismissed from the testing room) it will be immediately confiscated. Our test will be marked “Other,” which means that it will not be scored and you will miss the opportunity to take and pass this TAKS test.
If your device is confiscated, it will be turned over to the appropriate administrator and there will be a $15.00 fee to get it back. Unique consequence, even if first overall offense: Device confiscated by campus administrator and turned over to the appropriate administrator. Students/Parents will be required to pay the $15.00 administrative fee for its return.
