Young was inspired to start the scholarship in efforts to empower and provide opportunities to the next generation of students and leaders.
The Scholarship Program
The Vince Young Foundation Scholarship program (www.vyfoundation.org) will be awarding 10 Scholarships to graduating seniors in the Houston Metro and Surrounding areas.
Who Qualifies?
The selection committee is focused on identifying students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills who want to make a positive IMPACT to society and has a vision to succeed regardless of any obstacles that life has put in their way. We are especially interested in recognizing students who give back to their communities and whose goals and desires for education align with their passions.

The funds provided by the Vince Young Foundation may be used to pay for tuition and fees at the educational institution you choose. The scholarship check will be made out directly to the institution with instructions to apply the funds to the student’s current account.
The approximate value of each award for 2011 will be $5,000 (amount is subject to change). Awards will include: Min. $1000 per semester (Freshman Year- 2 Semesters), Dorm Room Makeover, Book Stipend, and Full Tuition to Teen Success Summer Leadership Camp. Recipients will also serve as the Foundations’ “Leadership Ambassadors” during the awarded year.
Eligibility Criteria
1.
Scholarship applicants must be accepted into a program of study at an educational institution, as evidenced by a proof of acceptance.
2.
Applicants must be receiving a high school diploma and graduating from a Houston Metro/ Surrounding Area school.
3.
Applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, and/or physical impairment.
4.
Applicants must complete the application form and essay requirement and must mail all required materials to the address provided. All materials being submitted for an applicant (application, recommendation letters, current transcript, and essay) must be in one package. All material related to an applicant must note the applicant’s name and email address. The application package must be postmarked no later than Monday, May 2, 2011. No exceptions will be made.
